Even though her Jean Grey was killed at the end of the last X-Men movie,
Famke Janssen has signed on to star in the upcoming X-Men 3 for 20th
Century Fox and Marvel Entertainment. Matthew Vaughn is directing the latest
installment of the X-Men franchise, which should begin production during
the summer for a May 2006 release.
In the last X-Men film, X2: X-Men United, Janssen's Jean Grey
was flooded while trying to save her fellow X-Men mutants. Her demise will be
addressed in the third installment, and she will evolve into a new character
known as the Phoenix.
In addition to Janssen, Hugh Jackman has signed on to reprise his role as Wolverine.
Ian McKellen, Halle Berry and Patrick Stewart are also in talks to bring their
characters - Magneto, Storm and Prof. Xavier, respectively - back to the screen.
Repped by CAA, Janssen recently had a guest starring arc on the Golden Globe-winning
FX drama Nip/Tuck. On the big screen, she has recently been seen in projects
including Eulogy and Hide and Seek.
