DiCaprio's Appian Way picks up Sheldon Turner pitch

Appian Way, the production banner run by Oscar-nominated actor Leonardo DiCaprio,
has snatched up the rights to the Sheldon Turner pitch In Dark Woods
in a preemptive bid. Appian Way will produce the film with Graham King's Initial
Entertainment Group. The companies previously collaborated on The Aviator.
Although exact details of the project's plot are being kept close to the vest,
Daily Variety reports that the film is described as a "dark revenge
thriller." Sean Bailey, who with Turner brought the pitch to Appian, will
serve as a producer.
Brad Simpson will now oversee the project's development for Appian, which
made the purchase through IEG.
Turner has been on a success streak lately. His update of The Longest Yard
for Paramount Pictures has grossed over $155 million at the domestic box office
to date. He recently penned the horror-thriller Pacific Air Flight 121,
which is now filming with Samuel L. Jackson in the lead, and he's attached to
pen a prequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
