Lawless back to star in CBS' Vampire Bats
Casting News, Telepic Division: CBS is wrapping up casting on a pair of TV movies from Frank Von Zerneck and Robert Sertner.

Daily Variety reports they've got Brett Butler and Tmothy Bottoms on board for Vampire Bats, the sequel to the telepic Locusts that ran last season. The producers have taken to stunt casting to amp up interest in their projects. Vampire Bats, like Locusts, will star former warrior princess Lucy Lawless in her role as Dr. Maddy Rierdon, investigator of the strange. Even more stunt casting, Craig Ferguson, host of the CBS Late Late Show, has a small part in the film. He'll play a fisherman in the picture, which is apparently a tip of the hat to David Letterman, who played a fisherman in a cameo in the 1994 film Cabin Boy under similar circumstances. Vampire Bats is already shooting in New Orleans. They're under a deadline…the movie is slated to air at Halloween.

Meanwhile, as the jury in the BTK Killer trial considers the sentence for the notorious murderer, CBS has an actor cast to play him. Greg Henry will play Dennis Rader in the network's The Hunt for the BTK Killer. Michael Michele is already onboard as Detective Ellen Baines, and now Robert Forster has joined the cast as a lawman who spends decades hunting the man known as BTK.
