Redford to receive Kennedy Center Honors

Robert Redford, Julie Harris, Tony Bennet and Tina Turner are getting one of the highest honors offered an entertainer. Daily Variety reports the quartet of performers, along with dancer Suzanne Farrell, have been chosen for the Kennedy Center Honors.
The awards presentation is one of the premiere events of the year in Washington DC, with the First Family usually in attendance. Kennedy Center chairman Stephen Schwarzman calls the honorees "extraordinary American artists" whose unique contributions to our culture have transformed our lives.
The 28-year-old awards program is a major revenue generator for the Kennedy Center. The event will take place December 4 and will be broadcast later on CBS.
