Neeson and Pierce Brosnan both face the Falls
Pierce Brosnan is trading in his spy attire for some Civil War garb. According to Daily Variety, the former 007 has made a deal with Mel Gibson and Bruce Davey's Icon Films to star with Liam Neeson in the psychological actioner Seraphim Falls, which will begin shooting on October 17. Davey and David Flynn are the producers on the project, with Icon also producing and providing the financing.

David Von Ancken is making his feature directing debut on Seraphim from a script he wrote with Abbey Everett Jaques. The story is set right at the end of the Civil War, when all the soldiers are laying down their weapons and working toward a time of reconstruction. During it all, however, a colonel makes it his mission to track down a certain man and settle a wartime grudge.

Stan Wlodkowski will be the executive producer, with two-time Oscar-winning cinematographer John Toll (Braveheart, Legends of the Fall) on board as the lenser.

Icon is currently in negotiations with domestic distributors, and the company's Icon Entertainment International will handle overseas sales. Icon Film Distribution will release the project in the U.K. and Australia.

Brosnan had been expecting to reprise his Bond role for another 007 movie, but he was recently informed he would not be the super-spy in the upcoming Casino Royale. His latest film, The Matador, will have its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival tomorrow night.

Neeson was recently seen in Kinsey and Batman Begins. He will soon be starring as Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's adaptation of Doris Keans Goodwin's biography of the 16th president. His other recent credits include Kingdom of Heaven, Love, Actually and Gangs of New York.

Von Ancken got his Hollywood start at the helm of the award-winning short film Bullet in the Brain. He has gone on to direct episodes of TV dramas including CSI: New York, The Shield and Without a Trace.
