Former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar, Oscar nominee
Ken Watanabe and Diego Luna have all started negotiations to star in The
Air I Breathe, which will be produced by Emilio Diez Barroso's Nala Films
and Paul Schiff Prods. and directed by Jieho Lee. Daily Variety reports
the project will begin lensing this January in Mexico City.
Written by Lee and Bob DeRosa, the film - a crime drama - will be based on
the ancient Chinese proverb that puts life into four emotional cornerstones:
happiness, pleasure, sorrow and love.
Paul Schiff will produce along with Nala's Diez Barroso and Darlene Caamano.
PSP's Tai Duncan will be an executive producer, as will Christopher Pratt. Nala
will be providing financing for the film with a budget around $10 million.
Gellar, repped by UTA, will soon be seen in Richard Kelly's Southland Tales,
while the Endeavor-repped Watanabe has a role in Rob Marshall's highly-anticipated
Memoirs of a Geisha. Luna, recently seen in Dirty Dancing: Havana
Nights and The Terminal, next stars in Solo dios sabe. He's
also repped by Endeavor.
