Antwone Fisher, whose self-titled script about a troubled childhood won numerous
awards for Fox Searchlight, is lightening up for his next project, an untitled
comedy purchased by New Line Cinema for producer Robert Simonds to produce.
The project is described as Big Daddy meets Problem Child, both
of which Simonds produced. It's set in the world of foster care and revolves
around the comedic dynamic between a foster child and his unqualified caretaker.
No star is attached yet, but Tracey Trench is executive producing and New Line's
Richard Brener and David Brewington will oversee.
Fisher is represented by the William Morris Agency and Colden McKuin & Frankel.
Fisher and Simonds have worked together before, on the comedy 00 Soul,
which Fisher co-wrote with Chris Tucker, who was going to star. The project
was set up at Universal Pictures with Mariah Carey co-starring, but it never
came to fruition. Fisher also has worked with New Line on uncredited rewrites
of the Tucker vehicles Money Talks and Rush Hour.
