Writer-director David Frankel has been signed by DreamWorks Pictures to rewrite
and direct the science fiction feature IQ 83.
The film is based on the book of the same title by Arthur Herzog and is about
a society whose entire population begins to slip into imbecility as the result
of an airborne virus that causes everyone's IQ to drop. The creator of the virus,
Dr. James Healey, must find a cure as his own mind begins to decay.
DreamWorks production executive Adam Goodman will oversee. Andrew Lazar will
produce the project through his Mad Chance Productions shingle.
Frankel is represented by International Creative Management, Industry Entertainment's
Rosalie Swedlin and attorney Bill Jacobson at Browning, Jacobson & Klein. He
worked on HBO's Band of Brothers, Miami Rhapsody, Sex and the
City, From the Earth to the Moon and the short Dear Diary,
for which he won an Oscar.
