Ricky who? Carlos Ponce, a major star in the Latin entertainment world, has
joined Paramount Domestic Television's Entertainment Tonight as an ET
Personality. Ponce will report on film, television, music and fashion for the
entertainment newsmagazine.
Ponce first appeared in several Spanish soap operas in addition to hosting
and producing Control, a magazine show for Spanish television, which
earned him two regional Emmys as producer and numerous "Best Host" awards. His
acting career took off when he starred in the telenovela Sentimientos Ajenos,
a 60-episode Spanish-language soap opera for Univision.
During his successful run on the nighttime drama, Ponce captured the attention
of music executives after singing one of the songs on the show's soundtrack.
A multi-year record deal led to numerous #1 hits, double-platinum albums and
numerous awards, including Billboard Magazine's "Best Pop Album, New
Artist" and "Best New Artist" honors. His many singing credits also include
a duet with Joy Enriquez of the renowned Walt Disney classic "Bella Notte" for
Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure in both English and Spanish.
Ponce entered the English-language acting arena with guest appearances on Beverly
Hills, 90210, Once and Again and The WB series 7th Heaven.
This fall, he will also be seen as a featured guest star on the premiere of
ABC's Karen Sisco, as well as the 8th season premiere of 7th Heaven,
in which he will have a recurring role.
