Helmer Brett Ratner is reteaming with his Rush Hour studio, New Line
Cinema, for his next directing outing. Ratner has come on board to direct Pierce
Brosnan, Salma Hayek and Woody Harrelson in the caper pic After the Sunset,
which is slated to begin production in mid-October
Based on a Paul Zbyszewski spec script, recently rewritten by Craig Rosenberg,
the story picks up where most heist films end - with the theif (Brosnan) sailing
off into the sunset after one great heist. But when a secret agent (Harrelson)
tracks the thief down to make sure he's really out of the game, a new game of
cat-and-mouse ensues.
Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson of Firm Films are producing and executive producing
the project, respectively. Ratner's Rat Entertainment and Jay Stern will also
take on producing duties, with Chris Pollack serving as an associate producer.
For New Line, Kent Alterman and Keith Goldberg will oversee.
Ratner, who recently helmed Red Dragon, fills a pending optional picture
commitment that he has with New Line by signing on to the project. He is also
attached to direct a third installment of the Rush Hour franchise, which
New Line currently has in development. He's repped by the Creative Artists Agency.
