Scrubs star Zach Braff's directorial debut and Sundance entry Garden State will open the 10th annual Los Angeles Film Festival on June 17, with the Robert Redford starrer The Clearing selected to close the festival on June 26. In addition, Richard Linklater's Before Sunset has been chosen as the Festival's centerpiece premiere by the selection committee led by festival director Richard Raddon and director of programming Rachel Rosen.

Garden State, which stars Braff, Ian Holm, Method Man, Natalie Portman and Peter Sarsgaard, centers on a young man who returns home for his mother's funeral after having been estranged from his family for many years. Once back, he reunites with old acquaintances that help him find himself. The pic premiered at Sundance and was snatched up for distribution by Fox Searchlight and Miramax Films. Searchlight will bow the film domestically on July 30.

The Redford starring The Clearing, directed Pieter Jan Brugge, is the story of a powerful executive, who is kidnapped, and his wife, who must deliver the ransom. Helen Mirren and Willem Dafoe also star in the film, which will be released by Fox Searchlight on July 2.

Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy star in Before Sunset, Linklater's sequel to Before Sunrise. Story concerns Jesse and Celine, who had met nine years earlier and once again encounter one another while Jesse is on the French leg of his book tour. Warner Independent Pictures will debut the film domestically on July 2.

This year 195 films including 83 features from 31 countries around the world will screen at the Los Angeles Film Festival. The Fest received over 2,800 submissions from all over the globe. In addition to the film slate, helmer Mira Nair will oversee the guest director sidebar.
