The competitive world of online movie ticket sales has just gotten smaller. MovieTickets.com, the leading Internet movie ticketing service, and America Online's Moviefone, the leading online movie destination, have formed a pact in which MovieTickets.com will assume the ticketing agreements that Moviefone had with movie theater exhibitors and will become the exclusive ticketing provider for Moviefone's online service and its signature 777-FILM phone services.

As a consequence of its deal with Moviefone, MovieTickets.com will further solidify its leadership position in online movie ticketing by now delivering online movie ticketing services to ensure optimum service and performance directly for 32 theater chains, double the amount of its nearest competitor. Moviefone will continue to focus its efforts on attracting web traffic to its category- leading service, which received more than 12 million unique users in June according to the most recent ComScore Media Metrix report.

Moviefone consumers will continue to obtain tickets by calling Moviefone's telephone service or by going to Moviefone.com, where they will be seamlessly linked to a co-branded transaction page served by MovieTickets.com. MovieTickets.com users will benefit from broader access to tickets from 32 theatre chains.

Separately, through a MovieTickets.com exclusive ticketing arrangement, Pacific Theaters becomes the newest theater chain to offer consumers tickets on MovieTickets.com, which are already available to Moviefone users via the co-branded arrangement.

"We are pleased that AOL has selected MovieTickets.com to give its users access to the most powerful movie ticketing solution available on the Internet," said Mitch Rubenstein, co-CEO of MovieTickets.com. "We look forward to leveraging our expertise to benefit both our expanded base of industry-leading movie theatre chains and consumers, while further enriching the online movie ticketing landscape."

The deal immediately follows the launch of a new, nationwide marketing campaign for Moviefone.com, which includes in-theater trailers; TV, radio, print and online advertisements; billboards; and in-theater signage and branding on concession stand items. MovieTickets.com continues to support its ticketing initiatives with nationwide programs consisting of various in-theater, TV, radio and outdoor campaigns.
