Boll Sets His Sights on Sudan
Perhaps the last person one would expect to be following in the activist footsteps of Clooney, Cheadle and Farrow is a filmmaker being petitioned to call it quits.

Instigators of a real-life blood rain

If there is such a thing as a terrestrial equivalent of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, it is the Janjaweed, the armed mercenaries in Darfur who continue to reek genocidal havoc. And before he tackles BloodRayne III, filmmaker Uwe Boll says he plans to make a movie about the armed partisans.
“This will be important for me,” he tells FilmStew during a recent one-on-one interview. “I will also do it in the style of Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto… You do it almost like a documentary, but it's a fictional movie, and it will be very brutal.”
“I enjoyed shooting [Tunnel Rats] in South Africa, so I will shoot there again,” he continues, in reference to his most recently completed film about the special U.S. combat unit that was sent into Vietnam to kill the subterranean elements of the enemy. “The title will be Janjaweed, just like the name of the Arab hordes who drive in on horsebacks and camels and kill everyone, raping the women and hacking the babies in pieces.”
“There's an unbelievable genocide going on, and a lot of people are outspoken about it, but nothing happens. We all remember after Rwanda, everyone said this cannot happen again, and it happens again and no one is doing anything. I don't get it. And Sudan is easy to control, it's not like Afghanistan! You could stop the massacres right now with 30 helicopters and machine guns, because you would see there are only 5,000 to 10,000 Arab mercenaries going around the country, supported by the government, killing all the black people. So it's a movie that I think is hard, but very much worth doing, and good to do."
All in all, Boll sounds way too busy to have time to pay attention to an infamous online petition clamoring for a millon signatures. At press time, the "Stop Dr. Uwe Boll" page had garnered 273,764 supporters.
