Matt Dillon's Banyan Tree Prods. has signed a two-year, first-look deal with
United Artists. Dillon has just signed development executive Joe Revitte to
run the company, which will be based in New York.
Dillon has had close ties with UA president Danny Rosett, whose studio produced
City of Ghosts, which Dillon co-wrote and directed. Dillon says he is
now more interested in producing and directing than acting.
Dillon's next acting gig involves playing the bad guy in Herbie: Fully Loaded, Disney's new Love Bug pic. He also starred in Crash, directed by Paul Haggis, which premiers at the Toronto Film Festival. But he is extremely excited about the script he is writing and hopes to direct for MGM, about New York mobster Eddie Maloney - a career criminal who became an informant for the FBI and a witness at the trial of John Gotti.
