Indie Film Synopsis of the Year

The final feature screening this afternoon at the Fort Myers Film Festival in Florida is the 2012 indie comedy A (Schizophrenic) Love Story. In terms of plot descriptions, the March 21st-25th event has certainly saved some of the best for last.

From IMDb, here is a brief synopsis for the San Antonio, Texas production:

An agoraphobic, schizophrenic consults his three delusions, Mary Mother of Jesus, Einstein and a vampire for love advice when his new neighbor Lily shows up with fro-yo and secrets of her own.

Sort of sounds like an upside-down, Lone Star riff on Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. This is the latest in a series of festival screenings for the film.

At the recent Omaha Film Festival, the Glenn D. Levy-Dylan Thomas Ellis co-directed flick took honorable mention in the Feature category, following a red carpet premiere in February at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin. The movie has also been screened at the Rockport Film Festival, won some awards at another Florida event (the StarLite Film Festival) and is scheduled for the LA United Film Festival May 1st.

The buzz is strong, generated by a cast that includes Academy Award nominee Bruce Davison and rising star Jamie Teer (Drive Angry). It's also of course always fun to see how an actor, in this case Richard Lukens, handles the challenge of portraying Mr. MC Squared.

Lukens is following in the Albert Einstein footsteps of other performers like Steven Polinsky, Ronald Pickup, Jeffrey Marcus and Eugene Levy.
