The event is set for July 10th in Long Prairie, Minnesota (from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.). Founder Andrew Ring is encouraging any and all who have made a family-friendly short of 30 minutes or less to submit by June 30th.
There's another great twist to this new festival. It will be held at one of the few still-standing Minnesota drive-ins. As Ring recently explained to the St. Cloud Times, he was finally able to move forward at the Long Drive-In Theatre after the site's projection equipment was upgraded to digital.
The inaugural event's Grand Prize is a two-way speaker system with subwoofer and $30 in cash. Selected films will be screened from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday July 10th and awards presented July 11th from 5:30 p.m to 6:00 p.m.

The festival was canceled. Per the official announcement:
We (The Long Drive-In) are regrettably going to have to cancel this year’s film festival. With only 5 submissions, and not one from Long Prairie or the surrounding area, we do not feel that it has generated the amount of local community involvement we had been hoping for. (The films submitted were from: St. Cloud, Minneapolis, Andover and St. Louis Park.)
